Why is eKYC necessary?

The purpose of the eKYC (Know Your Customer) process is to ensure the correct identification of ration card holders and eliminate fake ration cards. Through this, only those people will be able to benefit who are eligible, and those who have fake ration cards in their name will be eliminated.

During eKYC, ration card holders will have to match their name, date of birth, etc. with Aadhaar data. For this, Aadhaar card, ration card, mobile number linked to Aadhaar and email ID if available will be required. If a beneficiary lives in another state, he can also get eKYC done there through ration card number.
