Free wheat and rice are provided by the government under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). Under this, a big change has been made by the Haryana government. After the changes made by the government, in some districts the poor will be given flour instead of wheat. However, for this they have to pay a few rupees per kg.

Ordered to distribute flour

Wheat is given free of cost in all the districts of Haryana under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). But the government has selected Karnal, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Rohtak and Hisar districts to give flour instead of wheat. In these five districts, ration card holders will be given flour instead of wheat. In January, 3.35 lakh people of these five districts could not get flour. After this the matter was covered in the media. The Haryana government has ordered to distribute flour to the poor at a cost of Rs 3 per kg.

35 kg grain on one card

There are about 8.354 lakh ration card holders in all the five districts. According to the new rule, distribution of flour has been started to the ration card holders on the basis of family members. Apart from this, card holders will continue to get sugar and rice as before. Card holders of Antyodaya Anna Yojana are being given flour at the rate of 35 kg per card and BPL at the rate of 5 kg per unit. Flour grinding is being taken from the ration card holders at the rate of Rs.3 per kg. Apart from this, one kg of sugar is given per ration card, in lieu of which Rs.13.50 is taken.
