Rapid Rail- Namo train is currently running on 34 km of the 82 km long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS. Rapid Rail whistle may sound in New Delhi also early this year.
The construction of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transport System (RRTS) corridor is progressing at a fast pace. Rapid Rail has already started running between Sahibabad-Modi Nagar, the first section of this corridor. Rapid Rail will have four stations in New Delhi, Anand Vihar, New Ashok Nagar, Sarai Kale Khan and Jangpura.
The work of New Ashok Nagar Railway Station is almost complete. The roof of this station has been installed and the railway line has also been laid. Now only some finishing work is left. New Ashok Vihar station is 22 meters above the ground. Foot over bridges are also being built to connect the New Ashok Nagar station of Rapid Rail to the metro station and nearby areas.

With the help of these foot over bridges, Rapid Rail Stations New Ashok Nagar Metro Station, Chilla Village and Mayur Vihar Extension will be connected. It is expected that these foot over bridges will be ready before the trial run of Rapid Rail from Sahibabad to Delhi.
The total length of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Rapid Rail Corridor is 82 km.
Out of this, the Rapid Rail i.e. NaMo Train is running on 34 km stretch. The 8 km stretch from Modi Nagar to Meerut South is also about to be built now. Out of the total 82 km stretch, 70 km stretch is elevated. Whereas, NaMo Train will run underground on the 12 km stretch. 68 km of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor falls in UP, while 10 km is in Delhi. This entire project is expected to become operational by the end of next year.
Anand Vihar station is also going to be completed.
The work of Anand Vihar station is also in advanced stage. Work has also started on Sarai Kale Khan station. Jangpura station will be built a little later because it will be built with a stabling yard.
Trial run early next year
The trial run of Namo train between Sahibabad and Anand Vihar in New Delhi can happen early next year. The total distance between these two stations is 12 km. Work is going on here at a fast pace. Namo train is running till Sahibabad.
