The weather has changed in Uttar Pradesh. It has been raining heavily in the capital Lucknow since morning today (10 April 2025). The effect of western disturbance has been seen here.

In the morning, suddenly dark clouds covered the sky and it started raining with strong winds. Due to which the people going to the office got wet. When the rain showers fell on the people facing the heat, it felt different. In the month of April itself, people were facing 40 degree Celsius heat. But people have breathed a sigh of relief with this rain. However, it is also being estimated that this will cause damage to the Rabi crop.

There was rain in many districts of the state including Gorakhpur, Sitapur, Rae Bareli, Unnao, Kanpur Dehat, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Farrukhabad, Lakhimpur Kheri, Pilibhit. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of rain showers with strong winds for two days in many districts including Lucknow.

Heavy rain in Lucknow, roads turned into ponds

In Lucknow, the weather changed completely around 8 am. Heavy rain occurred in many areas. Darkness prevailed in most parts. There are reports of power outage in many areas due to the rain and storm. Clouds gathered in the sky since morning. It became so dark that the vehicles passing on the roads had to switch on the lights. Many trees fell due to the strong storm in Lucknow. The heavy rain also turned the roads into ponds in the summer. Many low-lying areas were filled with water. The water on the roads was up to people’s knees. The same was the situation in Kanpur. The roads here were also filled with water.

Storm rain alert issued

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of rain, thunderstorm and lightning in more than 45 districts of the state. The Meteorological Department says that the rain may intensify further. Along with this, its range may also increase. That means more districts may also be affected by rain. At the same time, the Meteorological Department has expressed hope of a drop in temperature.

CM Yogi alerted the officials

In view of the weather conditions, the state officials have been asked to remain alert. He instructed that the officials should survey the affected areas and keep an eye on the relief work. Make arrangements for drainage in case of waterlogging. Financial assistance should be given to the families of those who died due to storm, rain and lightning. The damage to the crops should be assessed and a report should be sent to the government as soon as possible, so that compensation can be given to the farmers.
