From Diwali to Chhath, common people often have to face long waiting in railways. A big reason for this is that people book railway reservation tickets 120 days in advance in the current system.
Now the Railway Board has taken a big decision, which can end the problem of long waiting. From now on, advance booking of railway reservation tickets can be done only 60 days in advance. The new system will come into effect from next month.
The Railway Board has said in an official statement that from November 1, 2024, advance booking of reservation tickets will be done only 60 days in advance. While the service of booking tickets 120 days in advance will continue till October 31, 2024.
The old system will remain applicable in Taj and Gomti Express
The Railway Board has clarified that the old system of reservation in some special express trains that complete their journey in a single day, that is, the lower limit for booking advance tickets, will remain applicable as before. Such trains include many trains including Taj Express and Gomti Express.
365 day limit for foreign nationals
The Railway Board has also said that the facility of booking railway reservation tickets 365 days in advance for foreign nationals or tourists will remain as before. No change has been made in this.
If railway reservation tickets will be booked only 60 days in advance, then people will not be able to book and hold tickets in advance. At the same time, agents will also be banned from holding tickets. While booking tickets in the facility of advance booking 60 days in advance will also stop its black marketing. However, IRCTC already takes many measures to stop black marketing of tickets. This includes limiting ticket booking.
