What are the conditions for changing the name on the ticket?
First of all, know that the facility of changing the name on the ticket is available only on offline tickets, which you have booked from the reservation counter. In this too, you can change the names of only your close ones and family members. For example, the name of parents, siblings or son-daughter can be changed in place of the passenger. Even if you have booked a group ticket for a group of students or officials, the option of changing the name is available in it.
What is the process for changing the name
- First of all, go to your nearest railway ticket reservation counter, where it will be necessary to reach 24 hours before the departure of the train.
- To change the name on the ticket, you will have to apply in writing.
- At the counter, you will have to provide the IDs of both the original passenger, whose name is written first, and the one in whose name the ticket is to be booked.
- After submitting all the required documents, the railway official puts the name of the new passenger on the ticket.
- The thing to be kept in mind is that the name on the ticket can be changed only once for one passenger.
How to change the journey date on the ticket
- If you have bought the ticket from the counter then go to the reservation counter 48 hours before the departure of the train.
- Submit your original ticket at the counter and apply to change your travel date earlier or later.
- Tell the staff at the counter the date of your next journey and get another ticket.
- Keep in mind that currently there is no option to change the date on tickets purchased online.
- The option to change the date of travel is available only on confirmed or RAC tickets. Tatkal tickets are also not included in this.
- The travel date can also be changed only once for one passenger. That too, subject to availability.
