Prayagraj: Prayagraj Sangam railway station has been closed till February 28 in view of the crowd of devotees coming for Maha Kumbh. This decision has been taken to save passengers from any inconvenience.

According to media reports, on the request of the district administration, the railway has decided to close Sangam railway station in view of the heavy crowd of devotees coming in trains during the Maha Kumbh fair. The railway station will remain closed from February 17 (today) to February 28. There are a total of nine railway stations in Prayagraj. Out of which Sangam railway station is located close to the fair area.

Let us tell you that Mahashivratri is on 26 February. Even before this, a huge crowd of devotees is reaching Mahakumbh. Long queues of vehicles are being seen inside and outside the city. Due to Sunday being a holiday, traffic jams were seen in the city and its surrounding areas. However, at this time the traffic system is running fine. There is a jam situation only at a few places. ADG Prayagraj Bhanu Bhaskar talked to IANS on Sunday. He said, “The incident that happened at New Delhi Railway Station is sad. After this accident, many trains have been rescheduled, due to which trains running from Delhi have reached Prayagraj very late.”

He had said, ‘A lost and found center has been set up for lost passengers in Maha Kumbh. A report of lost passengers is written in every police station. The police is also working to reunite a large number of lost people with their families every day.’ The ADG said that security has been increased at all the borders adjoining Prayagraj. After the incident in Delhi, special attention is being paid to the border areas. This time the crowd has increased more than last week. Strong arrangements have been made to control the crowd. It is known that at least 18 people died and many others were injured in the stampede at New Delhi Railway Station late Saturday night.
