Vande Bharat Express Trains: Those traveling by train are very fond of Vande Bharat Express trains. Right now these trains are running on some selected routes of the country. To give more speed to the Indian Railways, the government is constantly working towards increasing the number of Vande Bharat Express trains. In this sequence, production of 102 rakes of semi-high speed train is going on.

As per the design of Indian Railways and inside the Indian Railways production units, 102 Vande Bharat rakes (35 in 2022-2023 and 67 in 2023-2024) will be produced. In the Revised Estimates for the financial year 2022-2023, an amount of Rs 19479 crore has been provided for the PH 21-Rolling Stock Project (Carriage) to provide Vande Bharat trains including various items of coaches.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav gave this information in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. The minister informed that the first Vande Bharat Express was started between New Delhi and Varanasi from February 15, 2019. Presently, 10 pairs of Vande Bharat Express are in operation in the Indian Railways (IR) network.

“A total of 75 Vande Bharat rakes are planned as chair car variant and the rest as sleeper variant,” Vaishnav said. Indian Railways also plans to manufacture 400 Vande Bharat trains (sleeper variant) of three different technologies. Has been made For which tenders have been called for selection.

Apart from this, 8000 Vande Bharat coaches have also been proposed under the budget 2023-24. It is proposed to progressively cover the railway network with Kavach. At present Kavach has been implemented on 1455 route kms on South Central Railway.

“Apart from this, contracts for armor work on about 3000 route kilometers of Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah sections of Indian Railways have been awarded and work is underway,” Vaishnav said.
