The Union Cabinet has approved giving Performance Linked Bonus (PLB) to 11.72 lakh railway employees. This bonus will be equal to 78 days’ salary.

Its total expenditure will be ₹2,028.57 crore. The purpose of this bonus is to encourage employees for their excellent performance.

The central government has announced a performance linked bonus (PLB) equivalent to 78 days’ salary for 11,72,240 railway employees. The total cost of this bonus will be ₹2,028.57 crore. This bonus will be given to employees of various categories, including track maintainers, loco pilots, train managers, station masters, supervisors, technicians, and Group C staff.

According to the statement issued by the government, the purpose of this bonus is to encourage railway employees, so that they work with more enthusiasm to improve the performance of the railways.

Railways’ performance was excellent

This year the performance of the railways was excellent. In the financial year 2023-24, the railways carried a record 1588 million tonnes of goods and carried about 6.7 billion passengers. There were many reasons behind this record performance like large-scale capital investment by the government in railways, better technology and improvement in operational capacity. Last year also, the railways had announced a bonus of 78 days, which was given to more than 11 lakh employees. This time under the bonus, an employee will get a maximum of ₹ 17,951.

Good news for farmers too:

The Union Cabinet on Thursday approved two major agriculture schemes worth Rs 2 lakh crore to promote sustainable agriculture and ensure food security. The names of these schemes are ‘PM Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana’ (PM-RKVY) and ‘Krishi Unnati Yojana’ (KY). Of these, the PM-RKVY scheme will promote sustainable farming while the Krishi Unnati scheme will be dedicated to food security and self-reliance in the agriculture sector.

The government said in a post on the social media platform ‘X’ that a total of Rs 1,01,321.61 crore will be spent on these two agriculture schemes. Out of this, Rs 57,074.72 crore has been earmarked for RKVY and Rs 44,246.89 crore for Krishonnati Yojana.
