Railway Concession For Senior Citizen: The Ministry of Railways has once refused to give concession in fare to senior citizens for rail travel. The Ministry of Railways said that it gives an average discount of 53 per cent on the fare to all the citizens traveling in the railways. Along with this, in addition to this exemption, it provides concession to Divyangjans, students and patients.

Every rail passenger gets 53% discount on fare

In the Loksabha, a question was asked to the Railway Minister that 63 lakh senior citizens stopped traveling by rail due to lack of Railway Concession, so whether the Standing Committee of Parliament (Parliament) to give concession on railway fare to senior citizens again. Senior citizens should travel at their convenience

The Railway Minister informed the House that Indian Railways runs Garib Rath, Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto, Vande Bharat, Gatimaan, Tejas, Humsafar, apart from Mail-Express and general passenger trains. In which there is a different fare structure for passengers in First AC, Second AC, Third AC, AC Chair Car, Sleeper Class with Reserve and Second Class of Unregenerate Category. Senior citizens can travel in it as per their convenience.

No discount for senior citizens on air travel

The Railway Minister was asked whether private airlines are giving concession on air ticket fare to senior citizens. So the Railway Minister said that the DGCA has not issued any guidelines or circular regarding giving concession to senior citizens on air travel.
