In the midst of floods, rains, water logging and inflation in Delhi, now the vehicle owners are going to get another blow. Delhi Transport Department is going to make pollution test (PUC Certificate) expensive. Compared to earlier in Delhi, it may cost 50 percent more to get PUC certificate for vehicle pollution test. Whether it is a private car, scooter, bike running on petrol, diesel or CNG or commercial car, bus, truck, bike, three-wheeler, it is mandatory to take PUC. According to the Delhi Transport Department, the amount to be increased will be applicable to all two-wheeler and four-wheeler vehicles.

At present, there is a provision to deduct an challan of Rs 10,000 for not conducting a pollution test in Delhi. The last time in Delhi the rate of pollution test was increased in the year 2011. Delhi Transport Department has also started the process of increasing the rate of vehicle pollution test. For this, a committee was constituted recently. After evaluating the inflation rates, this committee has fixed the new rate after talking to all the stakeholders.

Preparation to increase the rate of pollution testing in Delhi

It is noteworthy that there are more than 950 pollution testing centers in Delhi. At present, in Delhi, Rs 60 for two-wheelers and Rs 80 for petrol-powered four-wheelers have to be paid in the name of pollution test. At the same time, an amount of Rs 100 is charged on diesel powered four wheelers. 18 percent GST is also levied separately on this.

This is how the pollution test certificate is done in Delhi:

If the Transport Department is to be believed, in the year 2022, the pollution test certificate of 50 lakh two-wheelers and four-wheelers was issued in Delhi. Here, the PUC center operators have also demanded the government to increase the pollution test rate to Rs 150-300. These people say that up to Rs 10,000 rent has to be paid at the petrol pump every month. This causes a lot of damage to them.

Let us tell you that BS-6 vehicles in Delhi have to undergo pollution test once in a year and BS-4 vehicles once in every six months. The purpose of issuing this certificate is that there should not be more pollution than the prescribed standards. The full form of PUC is Pollution Under Control. It is mandatory to take PUC certificate for all types of vehicles plying on the road.
