As soon as the month of October begins, there will be a series of festivals due to which there will be holidays in schools and banks. Gandhi Jayanti is a national holiday, which falls on Wednesday and will be celebrated all over India.

The first public holiday of October will be on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2. Banks, government offices, schools and colleges will remain closed across the country on this day. In many states of the country including Rajasthan, there will be a holiday on Navratri Sthapana and Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti on October 3.

Important Holidays in October

  • October 1 : Public holiday has been declared in Jammu and Kashmir due to assembly elections. People will exercise their franchise with enthusiasm.
  • October 2 : Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti will be celebrated across the country to remember Gandhiji’s teachings. People will pledge to follow his ideals by participating in cleanliness drives.
  • October 3 : Sharadiya Navratri and Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti will be celebrated. On this day, worship of Goddess Durga will begin and people will also remember the contribution of Maharaja Agrasen.
  • October 5 : There will be another public holiday in Haryana due to assembly elections. Citizens will exercise their democratic right by going to the polling stations.
  • October 6 : Sunday will be a weekly holiday.
