December 21 has been declared a public holiday in Punjab due to municipal elections. This announcement has been made by the Election Commission.
The notification states that apart from 5 municipal corporations and 41 municipal councils, some ward-wise by-elections will be held on December 21, 2024.
December 21 (Saturday) has been declared a public holiday in all government offices of Punjab located under the jurisdiction of municipal bodies where elections are going to be held under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. Special holiday will be given to those government employees who are voters of these municipal bodies but are employed elsewhere.
