Ravidas Jayanti Holiday In Delhi: Ravidas Jayanti will be celebrated on 12 February 2025 this year. It is the birth anniversary of saint and poet Ravidas, which is celebrated on the day of Magh Purnima according to the Hindu lunar calendar. On this occasion, a holiday has been announced for schools in Delhi NCR. This announcement has been made by Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena.
Government offices and schools will remain closed in Delhi on Ravidas Jayanti
Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has declared a public holiday on February 12 on the occasion of Guru Ravidas Jayanti. The order will apply to all government offices, autonomous bodies and public sector undertakings in the National Capital Region (NCR).
There will be holiday in the schools of Uttar Pradesh too
According to Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council, all the schools in the state will also have holiday on February 12.
Essential services will remain operational
However, this holiday will not apply to departments related to health, security and other essential services. They will continue their regular services.
According to the official notification issued by the government, earlier a restricted holiday was announced on this day, which has now been changed to a public holiday.
Sant Ravidas and his contribution
Sant Ravidas was a famous poet, social reformer and spiritual guru of the 15th century. His teachings had a profound impact on Indian society and culture. Sant Ravidas was born in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. His works are still inspiring and have been included in various religious texts.
All government offices, schools and public institutions under the Delhi government will remain closed on 12 February 2025. However, essential services will remain operational as before. The teachings of Sant Ravidas are still relevant today and give the message of love, equality and brotherhood to the society.
