Public Holiday: Government revised the list of government holidays, check the updated public holiday list

Asam Government Updated Holiday List 2025 : The Assam government has released a revised list of government holidays for 2025. Eight important holidays have been changed in the revised list. This new list was released by the General Administration Department. A total of 36 government holidays are included in this list and seven new reserved holidays have been added.

This change was made in the listing of holidays

The government has included Ali-Ai-Ligang festival as a government holiday in 11 districts in the 2025 holidays. Apart from this, May Day (May 1), Gandhi Jayanti (October 2) and Morak Raja Swargadeo Sarvananda Day (May 24) have been specially included in the list. Other changes include Hari Dev Tithi (May 26), Sri Bhuvaneshwar Sadhu Thakur Abhirbhav Tithi (October 23), Kuli Chawang Kut (November 1), Wangla Utsav (November 7) and Bu Raghav Moran Day (November 10). The purpose of these changes is to maintain a balance between administrative and cultural activities. This will enable government departments and public office employees to make their plans properly.

Assam Public Holidays 2025

The major holidays declared for 2025 in Assam include Magh Bihu January 14, Republic Day January 26, Holi March 14, Eid-ul-Fitr March 31, Bohag Bihu April 14-16 and Independence Day August 15. Vijayadashami October 2, Diwali October 20 and Christmas December 25 are also on the list. Below is the list of public holidays in Assam.

  • January 14: Magh Bihu (Tuesday)
  • January 26: Republic Day (Sunday)
  • May 1: May Day (Thursday)
  • October 2: Gandhi Jayanti and Vijayadashami (Thursday)
  • October 20: Diwali (Monday)
  • December 25: Christmas (Thursday)

The updated list of holidays will be applicable on these

The changes announced by the government will apply to public offices, schools and government offices. Inclusion of cultural festivals like Ali-Ai-Ligang in the holidays will promote the rich cultural heritage of the state. The Assam government has requested the public to regularly check government notifications for the latest information on holidays.
