School Holiday: The Telangana government has ordered all government and private schools to remain closed on February 26 and 27 on the occasion of Mahashivratri. This decision has been taken in view of the importance of the festival, so that students and teachers can celebrate this religious festival without any hassle.

In Punjab, there will be a public holiday on Wednesday, February 26, on the holy festival of Mahashivratri. On this day, there will be a holiday in government offices, government and private schools, colleges, educational institutions and other commercial establishments across the state.

Schools and colleges to remain closed in Andhra Pradesh on February 27

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has recently announced the schedule for the Legislative Council (MLC) elections in Andhra Pradesh. The polling will be held on February 27 and the counting of votes will be held on March 3. Due to this election process, it has been decided to keep schools and colleges closed in East and West Godavari, Krishna-Guntur graduate constituencies of Andhra Pradesh as well as Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam regions.

Talking about schools in Delhi and NCR region, no official announcement has been made yet. However, last year, schools, colleges and other educational institutions in Gautam Budh Nagar remained closed due to Mahashivratri. District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma had declared a local holiday in this regard. This year too, students and parents are advised to contact their school administration regarding possible holidays.

Government holiday on Shivratri in various states

Holidays are declared on the occasion of Mahashivratri in various states of India. But it may be different for each state. In some states, it is a government holiday. While in some places only educational institutions have been kept closed. This year, holidays have been announced for schools and colleges in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh due to Mahashivratri. While there is no official confirmation in Delhi-NCR yet.
