Public holiday: Centre govt declares holiday for BR Ambedkar’s birth anniversary on April 14

The Centre government has declared a holiday on 14 April 2025 on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr. Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar. Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has announced a holiday in all government offices, autonomous bodies and public sector undertakings on this day.

According to the notification issued by the General Administration Department, this holiday will be applicable in all government offices, which means that government offices in Delhi will remain closed on this day.

The notification states that this holiday has been declared on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti on Monday, 14 April on the instructions of Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. Information about this order has also been sent to the Chief Minister of Delhi, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, ministers, Municipal Corporation and other related departments so that this order can be fully followed.

Dr. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary is considered a symbol of social justice and equality. Baba Saheb played an important role in the creation of the Indian Constitution and his ideas still inspire society.
