Public holiday- The Chhattisgarh Government has declared a public holiday on 18 December 2024 on the occasion of Guru Ghasidas Jayanti. This day will be celebrated with special enthusiasm and devotion across the state.
Remembering the contribution of Guru Ghasidas, government offices, schools, colleges, banks and other institutions of the state will remain closed. On this occasion, a ‘Dry Day’ has also been declared, that is, the sale of liquor will be banned on this day.
Guru Ghasidas was born on 18 December 1756 AD. He was a great saint and social reformer of Chhattisgarh, who dedicated his life to establishing equality and brotherhood in the society. Guru Ghasidas raised his voice against casteism, discrimination and inequality. His message was that all human beings should be given equal status.
A dry day has been declared in Chhattisgarh on the day of Guru Ghasidas Jayanti. This means that there will be a complete ban on the sale of liquor on this day.
School Timings Changed-
Cold has suddenly increased in most states including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab. Due to the drop in mercury, the Meteorological Department has issued a cold wave alert in many states. In view of this situation, the timings of schools have been changed in most districts of Madhya Pradesh.
Due to the cold wave alert in Madhya Pradesh, the timings of schools in Mandsaur have been changed. Classes will start from 9 am in all government, non-government primary and secondary schools in Madhya Pradesh. Mandsaur Collector Aditi Garg has issued instructions keeping in mind the cold wave that the primary and secondary classes of all government/non-government schools will be held at 9:00 am.
Due to the severe cold, the timings of schools in Shajapur and Mandla have also been changed. In view of the cold wave, Collector Mrs. Riju Bafna has ordered to change the timings of all government and non-government schools in Shajapur district. Classes from nursery to class VIII will now be held only after 9 am. Similarly, in Mandla, the timings of schools have also been changed in view of the increasing cold. Here, morning schools will now run from 9 am to 3 pm.
