  • 3 December 2024 – St. Francis Xavier (Banks closed in Goa)
  • 10 December 2024 – Human Rights Day
  • December 11, 2024 – UNICEF’s birthday
  • 18 December 2024 – Guru Ghasidas Jayanti (Banks closed in Chandigarh)
  • 19 December 2024 – Goa Liberation Day (Banks closed in Goa)
  • 24 December 2024 – Martyrs’ Day / Christmas Eve (Holiday in Meghalaya, Mizoram, Punjab and Chandigarh)
  • 25 December 2024 – Christmas (Banks closed across the country)
  • 26 December 2024 – Boxing Day and Kwanzaa (all banks closed)
  • 30 December 2024 – Tamu Losar (Banks closed in Sikkim)
  • 31 December 2024 – New Year’s Eve (Banks closed in Mizoram)

Banks, schools and many institutions will remain closed on these dates, so make your plans according to these holidays. 

At the same time, winter holidays have been declared for government and private schools in Madhya Pradesh from 31 December 2024 to 4 January 2025. After this, schools will reopen from 6 January 2025 (Monday) as January 5 is a Sunday . This holiday will be applicable for both government and private schools. The Education Department has mentioned this holiday in its academic calendar.

Along with this, students preparing for 10th and 12th board examinations will not be forced to come to school during this period. If students do not come to school during holidays, they will not be considered absent. This step has been taken to give students time to focus more on their studies.
