Prime Minister Internship Scheme : This is a golden opportunity for the youth of the country. The central government has extended the last date for registration of the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) to 22 April 2025.
Earlier this date was 15 April 2025. This step has been taken keeping in mind those students and youth who have not been able to apply yet. The Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme is a great opportunity for the youth to gain industry experience before getting a job. The aim of the government is to empower the youth and prepare them for future challenges.
What is Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme (PMIS)?
This scheme was announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Union Budget 2024-25. Its objective is to provide professional working experience to the youth of the country. Under this, the selected youth will get an opportunity to do internship in the top 500 companies of India, which will enhance their skills and provide better career options for the future.
What is the duration of the internship and how much money will be received?
This will be a 12-month internship. In this, every intern will get a monthly stipend of Rs 5,000. Out of this, Rs 500 will be given to the company based on their performance and attendance and Rs 4,500 will be sent directly by the Central Government to their Aadhar linked bank account. Apart from this, an amount of Rs 6,000 will be given at once when the internship starts.
Who can apply?
- To apply for this scheme, you must fulfill the following conditions.
- You are an Indian citizen
- 21 to 24 years of age (as on 22 April 2025)
- Not be in full-time employment or full-time study (those pursuing distance or online studies are eligible)
- You must have completed SSC/HSC/ITI/Diploma/Graduation (BA, BSc, BCom, BBA, BCA, BPharma etc.).
How to apply?
- Open the website: www.pminternship.mc.gov.in
- Select the language and click on ‘Youth Registration’
- Enter the 10 digit mobile number linked with Aadhaar
- Enter OTP and click ‘Submit’
- Set password and access dashboard
- Complete your profile in the ‘My Current Status’ tab
- Complete eKYC process (through Aadhaar)
Without completing the profile and eKYC, no one can apply for the internship. Therefore, it is important to complete the application process on time.
