On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the country, President Draupadi Murmu on Tuesday released a commemorative coin of Rs 75 and a postage stamp in Parliament.

The historic coin was released during a ceremony held in the Central Hall of Samvidhaan Sadan in New Delhi. Addressing a joint sitting of both the Houses of Parliament on Constitution Day, Murmu said that the Constitution is a living and progressive document. The President also unveiled the first Sanskrit copy of the Constitution and its Maithili version.

Appeal to Indians to follow fundamental duties

According to the news, while addressing the gathering, President Draupadi Murmu reflected on the adoption of the Constitution 75 years ago and called it a historic moment. She also emphasized the contribution of 15 women members of the Constituent Assembly in shaping the country’s foundational text. The President urged all Indians to imbibe the constitutional ideals in their conduct and perform their fundamental duties and work towards achieving the national goal of a developed India by the year 2047.

President Murmu said that I am very happy to be amongst you all on the auspicious occasion of Constitution Day. The Constitution is the most sacred book of our country. Our Constitution is the strong foundation of our democratic republic. Our Constitution ensures our collective and individual self-respect. The diversity of our country found expression in our Constituent Assembly. The presence of representatives from all provinces and regions in the Constituent Assembly gave voice to the all-India consciousness.

Work together

President Murmu said that in accordance with the spirit of the Constitution, it is the responsibility of the executive, legislature, and judiciary to work together to make life easier for the common man. She said that during the last few years, the government has taken many steps for the development of all sections of society, especially the weaker sections. Such decisions have improved the lives of the people and are providing them new opportunities for progress.
