PRAN Card Apply Online: If you have opened your account under the National Pension Scheme, then it is very important to have a PRAN card. Without this you can get into many problems.
PRAN or Permanent Retirement Account Number is a 12 digit number. It identifies those people who have registered themselves under the National Pension Scheme (NPS). Registration for PRAN card is necessary for the Central and State Government employees. You can register for this with National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL).
Explain that there are two types of NPS accounts under PRAN. Tier-I account which is Non-Withdrawable and is meant for retirement savings. and Tier -II account which is similar to a savings account. It gives you permission to withdraw your savings. But no tax benefit is available from this. After getting the PRAN card, NPS subscribers can take the physical copy of their PRAN card. PRAN card works like a unique ID in a way. For this reason, the subscriber cannot change it. You can apply for your PRAN card both online and offline.
How to apply for PRAN card
PRAN (Permanent Retirement Account Number) is issued to the subscriber of National Pension System. Hence the PRAN card application form is the same as that used for membership of NPS. While applying, personal details of the subscriber, employment details of the subscriber, nomination details, subscriber scheme details and PFRDA (Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority) declaration are included.
How to apply online
- You can do the entire process of account opening online on NSDL or Karvy website.
- The task of maintaining and opening NPS accounts in India has been entrusted to CRA.
- You can apply for PRAN with your Aadhaar card or your PAN card using the online portal.
- If you apply for PRAN using Aadhaar card, the process can be completed using NPS KYC Aadhaar OTP authentication.
- Aadhaar OTP is sent to the mobile number registered on the Aadhaar database.
- Your demographic details and photo are taken from the Aadhaar database. In this case your form is filled automatically.
- You have to fill all the necessary details online.
- You will have to upload your scanned signature in the registration process. It should be in .jpeg/.jpg format of file size between 4kb to 12kb.
- If you want to change the photo from Aadhaar card, you can upload the scanned photo.
- You will be redirected to the payment gateway to make payment for your NPS account by debit/credit card or internet banking.
- Where after the payment process is completed, your PRAN card will be generated.
These documents are required
To apply for a PRAN card, you must have an Aadhaar card, PAN card or Permanent Account Number (which is issued to you by the Income Tax Department). Along with this, it is necessary to have a scanned copy of passport size photo, scanned copy of bank passbook/canceled cheque, scanned copy of your signature and scanned copy of passport.
