PMMVY: Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana aims to improve the health of pregnant women and help with the cost of treatment and medicines
Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana is run by the government for pregnant women and lactating mothers. The objective of the scheme is to improve the health of these mothers and reduce the impact of under-nourishment through cash incentives.
Under this scheme, 5000 rupees are deposited in the account of these women every year. This Rs 5000 is sent directly to the bank account of the beneficiary through DBT through three installments.
In Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, 1000 rupees of the first installment is put at the time of registration of pregnancy. On the other hand, the second installment is given after at least one antenatal checkup of six months of pregnancy, in which Rs 2000 is given. After this, 2000 rupees of the third installment is given after the birth of the child is registered.
This scheme was started for those women who are working on daily wage scale or whose economic condition is very weak. The main objective of this scheme is to reduce the loss of wages during pregnancy.
The government does not give the benefit of this scheme to those women who are associated with any central or state government undertaking.
The benefit of this scheme is given only on the first surviving child. This 5000 rupees helps the pregnant woman in the cost of treatment and medicines. Also, getting this financial help gives pregnant women time to rest.
