In line with his commitment to Housing for All, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will visit the newly constructed flats for residents of Jhuggi Jhopdi (JJ) clusters under the In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project at Swabhiman Apartments, Ashok Vihar, Delhi on 3rd January 2025 at around 12:10 PM. Later, at around 12:45 PM, Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several development projects in Delhi.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate 1,675 newly constructed flats for slum dwellers at Ashok Vihar, Delhi and also hand over the keys of Swabhimaan Apartments to the eligible beneficiaries. The inauguration of the newly constructed flats will mark the completion of the second successful in-situ slum rehabilitation project by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). The project aims to provide a better and healthier environment with proper amenities to the slum dwellers in Delhi.
For every Rs 25 lakh spent by the government on construction of a flat, eligible beneficiaries pay less than 7 per cent of the total amount, which includes a nominal contribution of Rs 1.42 lakh and Rs 30,000 for five years of maintenance.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate two urban redevelopment projects – World Trade Centre (WTC) at Naoroji Nagar and General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Type-II Quarters at Sarojini Nagar.
The World Trade Centre at Naoroji Nagar has transformed the area by replacing over 600 dilapidated quarters with state-of-the-art commercial towers. This has provided around 34 lakh sq ft of premium commercial space with advanced amenities. The project incorporates green building practices, including provisions such as zero-discharge concept, solar power generation and rainwater harvesting system.
The GPRA Type-II Quarters at Sarojini Nagar comprises 28 towers with over 2,500 residential units with modern amenities and efficient use of space. The project design includes rainwater harvesting systems, sewage and water treatment plants, and solar-powered waste compactors to promote eco-conscious living.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the Integrated Office Complex of CBSE at Dwarka, Delhi, built at a cost of about Rs 300 crore. It includes offices, auditorium, advanced data centre, comprehensive water management system etc. This eco-friendly building has been constructed as per high environmental standards and has been built as per the Platinum rating standards of Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).
The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of three new projects at Delhi University costing over Rs 600 crore. This includes an academic block at the East Campus in Surajmal Vihar, East Delhi and an academic block at the West Campus in Dwarka. It also includes the building of Veer Savarkar College at Roshanpura in Najafgarh, which will have state-of-the-art facilities for education.
