Prime Minister Narendra Modi was to inaugurate this train on 19 April. But at present its inauguration has been postponed . This is because the Prime Minister’s visit to Kashmir has been postponed. There is no information about the new date yet.
Let us tell you that PM Modi’s visit to Kashmir was scheduled on 19 April. He was to flag off the Vande Bharat train running from Katra to Kashmir. He was also to inaugurate the last part of the Katra-Sangaldan section of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL). This is a 272 km long project. After PM Modi’s Kashmir visit was postponed, both these inaugurations have also been put on hold for the time being.
Train passing through Chenab Arch Bridge
The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) section also includes the Chenab Railway Bridge. It is the world’s highest railway arch bridge. This will provide direct rail connectivity between New Delhi and Kashmir via Katra.
The trial was held in January
Indian Railways conducted a trial run of the first Vande Bharat train from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) railway station to Srinagar railway station on January 23. Apart from the Chenab bridge, the train will also pass through the Anji Khad bridge. The Anji Khad bridge is India’s first cable-stayed railway bridge.
Why was the PM’s visit cancelled?
No official reason has been given as to why PM Modi’s proposed visit was cancelled. However, some sources have said that according to the Meteorological Department, the weather in Katra and its surrounding areas will be bad on 18 and 19 April and there is a possibility of heavy rain. In such a situation, this visit of PM Modi has been cancelled.
