Train travel with platform ticket
If you have only a platform ticket and you have boarded the train, then there is no need to panic. You can go to the ticket checker and get a ticket. Actually, this is the rule of the railways itself. In case of emergency, a passenger can board the train with a platform ticket, but he will have to contact the TTE immediately. Also, he will have to book a ticket for the place where he wants to go. However, sometimes if there is no seat, the TTE can refuse to give you a reserved seat. But, he cannot stop you from traveling. In such a situation, a penalty of Rs 250 and the fare of the journey will be charged from the passenger.
You will save some money, but how?
The only advantage of a platform ticket is that the passenger will have to pay the fare from the station from where he has taken the platform ticket. While charging the fare, the departure station will also be considered as that station. The fare will be charged from the passenger for the same class in which he is travelling.
You will get a refund if you miss the train
It is often seen that after missing a train, people get worried that they have missed the train and also lost their money. But, you can get a refund even if you miss the train. In case of missing a train, the passenger can claim a refund of 50 percent of the base fare of his ticket by filing TDR. But, you have to do this work within the stipulated time limit.
TTE cannot give your seat to anyone
If you miss your train, TTE cannot allot your seat to anyone till the next two stations. You can complete your journey by reaching the next two stations before the train. But, after two stations, TTE can allot this seat to a passenger with RAC ticket.
