Public sector oil companies have the right to set prices
The government has given the right to decide the prices of petrol and diesel to the public sector oil companies, but when the situation in the international market is abnormal, the decision is taken only after the advice of the central government.
This time, the announcement of making petrol and diesel cheaper has also been made by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. If we look at the data after May 2022, it becomes clear that the government oil companies have not maintained transparency in determining the price of petrol and diesel.

Earlier, it was decided to continue the scheme of providing 12 LPG cylinders in a year to poor families under the gas connections given under the Ujjwala scheme till March 2025. Later, PM Modi had announced to reduce the price of cylinder by Rs 100.
