Paytm introduced Pocket Soundbox and Music Soundbox payment devices in India in 2023. After this, the NFC supported soundbox was introduced last year. The financial services and payment solutions company designed all these devices to provide better payment coverage for merchants.
Now, the company has launched India’s first solar-powered soundbox, which is designed to provide a seamless payment experience for merchants using sustainable energy. The device works in the same way as other payment boxes, but the small solar-panel installed in it keeps it charged with minimal sunlight. This leads to negligible power consumption and it keeps working even when the power goes out.
Paytm has introduced its new Solar Soundbox . As the name suggests, the new payment soundbox can run even without electricity, as it is charged by sunlight due to its solar panel. It has two batteries, one is charged by solar energy and the other is charged by electricity. The solar powered battery can last for a full day after 2-3 hours of exposure to sunlight, while the electric powered battery lasts up to 10 days without the need for recharge.
The company says that Solar Soundbox offers UPI and Rupay credit card transactions via Paytm QR code. It is specially designed for small merchants like small vendors and artisans etc. This device comes with audio for payment confirmation. The device supports 4G connection and includes a 3-watt speaker for sound. It can give notifications in 11 languages.
As we mentioned, last year the company introduced the NFC Soundbox . This is also a portable device, which was the first device of its kind. It can easily fit in the pocket and supports 4G network connectivity. Pocket Soundbox provides instant audio payment alerts to merchants for more efficiency. The company claims that it can be used for 5 days on a single charge. It has a built-in torch which makes it easy to use in the dark. It is designed for use by everyone from cab drivers to delivery agents and cart vendors.
