Process of renewing passport
Visit the website:
To renew the passport, first go to the official website of Passport India https://portal2.passportindia.gov.in.
Select Reissue Passport:
Click on the “Reissue Passport” option on the website.
Fill online application:
Click on “Click here to fill the application form online” and fill all the information sought.
Save and submit:
Save or submit the application.
Pay fee:
Select “Pay and Schedule Appointment” option and deposit the fee through online payment.
Schedule an appointment:
Book an appointment at the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK).
Verify information:
Visit the Passport Seva Kendra at the scheduled time and get the required information verified.
Receive passport:
After the verification process, the new passport will be sent to your address within 7 days.
Documents required for passport renewal
- Old passport (original document)
- Self-attested copy of first and last two pages of passport
- Self-attested copy of ECR/Non-ECR page
- Self-attested copy of any observation page on the passport
- Self-attested copy of validity extension page for short validity passport (SVP)
- Documents for expiring short validity passport issued for any reason
Types of Passport
- Ordinary Passport (Blue):
Issued to Indian citizens who travel for business, education or leisure.
2.Diplomatic Passport (Maroon):
This passport is issued only to diplomats and high-level government officials for their official work.
3.Official Passport (White):
This passport is issued to Indian government officials who travel abroad for official work.
4.Orange Passport:
This passport is issued to citizens who fall under the ECR (Immigration Check Required) category. It is designed to protect against exploitation and fraud.
