New Delhi. If you are also going to get a new passport (Passport Seva portal Closed) then this news is for you. The passport department portal will remain closed across the country from 8 pm on August 29 to the morning of September 2.
If someone has already applied for passport and got it between August 30 and September 2, then they will have to reschedule it for some other date.
Why was the portal closed?
The passport department informed that due to technical maintenance, the portal cannot be operated for five days. Not only the passport service centers, but also the work at the regional passport offices, police verification of applicants and the Ministry of External Affairs will be affected.
The passport department official informed that applicants who had taken online appointments during this period will be able to reschedule their appointments for any other date.

How many types of passports are there in India?
There are three types of passports in India
- Bluecover Passport: This is a normal passport. Any citizen of the country can use it.
- Maroon cover passport: This is a diplomatic passport. Only diplomats and government officials authorized by the Government of India can use this passport.
- Greycover Passport: This is the official passport. It is issued to government employees working abroad.
