Passport is the most important document for traveling abroad, without it it is not possible to apply for a visa. The passport is issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, and it can also be applied online.
If you are planning to travel abroad and do not have a passport, then you have to prepare the necessary documents before applying for it. Here are the documents required to apply for a passport:

- Aadhar card
- As address proof:
- Bank account passbook
- water or electricity bill
- Election ID Card
- Landline or postpaid mobile bill
- gas connection proof
- Photocopy of spouse’s passport
- Employer’s certificate
For age proof
- School Leaving Certificate
- Birth Certificate
- Driving license, PAN card or election photo identity card
upon marriage, divorce or separation
- Marriage certificate or joint photo declaration
- Divorce order/decree papers
- Death Certificate (for change of name of husband/wife)
For minor applicants
- Photocopy of parents’ passport
- Address proof of parents
ECR/ECNR Status
ECR (Immigration Check Required) and ECNR (No Immigration Check Required) status is given. Non-ECR category passports will not have any special mention.
