PAN Card: CBDT has said that persons who have received PAN card on the basis of Aadhaar Enrolment ID are required to update the original Aadhaar number before 31 December 2025.
They will have to provide this information to the Income Tax Department system, authorized officer or directly to CBDT.
If you have got a PAN card made through Aadhaar Enrolment ID, then an important update has come for you. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has issued a new notification warning those who have obtained PAN card using Aadhaar Enrolment ID before October 1, 2024.
CBDT has said that it is mandatory for the persons who have got PAN card on the basis of Aadhaar Enrolment ID to update the original Aadhaar number before 31 December 2025. They will have to provide this information to the Income Tax Department system, authorized officer or directly to CBDT. If this is not done, the PAN card may be invalid and the Income Tax Return (ITR) can also be declared invalid.
Will there be any fine?
The big relief is that such users will not have to pay any penalty for updating Aadhaar. It is worth noting that the last date for linking PAN-Aadhaar for common citizens was 30 June 2023. Since then this service is available with a fee of ₹ 1000. But those who have got PAN card made with enrollment ID can update their original Aadhaar number without any fee.

- Enter your PAN and Aadhaar number
- Complete OTP verification
- Aadhaar number will be linked successfully
