The Jharkhand government has taken a historic decision to impose a complete ban on the sale, storage and consumption of gutkha and pan masala in the state. Announcing this big decision, the state’s Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari said that this tough step has been taken to realize Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s dream of a healthy Jharkhand. This ban is not just a rule, but a revolutionary initiative to save the youth of Jharkhand from the clutches of addiction.

Minister Dr Ansari said, “Playing with health will not be tolerated at any cost. Fatal diseases like cancer are increasing rapidly due to gutkha and pan masala. Our youth are slowly moving towards death, and I cannot see them dying before my eyes. Being a doctor I know to what extent this poison can destroy the body. When the public has made me the Health Minister, my first duty is to protect their lives.”

The minister clarified that strict legal action will be taken against selling, storing or consuming gutkha. Special vigil will be kept on gutkha mafia and illegal traders. If gutkha is found with any shop, warehouse or person, not only strict legal action will be taken, but the warehouses will also be sealed. Strict instructions have been given to the health department and administration to strictly follow this order.

Dr. Ansari said, “Mothers and sisters were constantly pleading with me that their children and brothers were ruining their lives by getting caught in the clutches of drugs. I understood their pain and took this firm decision. This is not just a ban, but a true tribute to those families who lost their children due to cancer.”

The Health Minister said that this decision will set an example for the entire state. He appealed to the officials and the general public to take this decision as a challenge and cooperate in making Jharkhand gutkha free. He said, “We want to set a trend which other states also follow and this campaign should run across the country.”

Dr. Irfan Ansari also said that when the public has elected a doctor as the Health Minister, he is fulfilling this responsibility with full devotion. He said, “Until the health facilities of Jharkhand are improved, until the people here are healthy, I will not sit in peace.”

This historic decision to ban gutkha and pan masala is being appreciated everywhere. Experts and social organizations have called it the biggest decision taken in the interest of the youth and families of Jharkhand. This decision is not only important for health, but is also a revolutionary step towards social reform.

Dr Ansari concluded by saying, “We all have to work together to ensure that Jharkhand becomes healthy and drug-free. Life is precious, it cannot be allowed to be lost to deadly things like gutkha and pan masala. This decision is a strong step towards securing the future of Jharkhand, and we should be proud of it.”
