Under the new education policy, UGC has taken serious initiative for the Professor of Practice scheme and has encouraged the state universities of UP to appoint them to the post of Professor of Practice. Along with this, it has been asked to give information about the progress on this matter.
In the month of May itself, UGC had started registration on the Professor of Practice portal. In this portal, experienced professionals having knowledge in different subjects and fields can register themselves for the post of Professor of Practice.
Under this scheme, so far 10,0062 candidates have registered on this portal to become professors in universities and higher education institutions across the country. Candidates registering on the portal have detailed knowledge and experience in different fields. These include experts from all the fields including industries, commerce, engineering, science, arts etc.
One can become a professor without NET and PhD
Actually, according to the rules of UGC, appointment to the post of Professor of Practice can be done for a maximum of four years. For this, guidelines were also issued to all higher educational institutions to make necessary changes in the rules. Under this scheme, even those people who are not teachers professionally and do not have the educational qualification of NET or PhD can now be recruited to the post of Professor of Practice. But he has detailed knowledge in his field.
Students will also benefit
With this scheme, people who are capable will also get a chance to teach students in the university. But he did not have the qualification of NET or PhD. Students will also benefit from this. UGC has now encouraged the state universities of UP to work on this scheme, after which it is believed that recruitment to the post of Professor of Practice can happen in UP soon.
