If Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari is to be believed, electric buses will start running in all the cities of the country in the next 5 years. Not only this, there are plans to run e-buses on some long routes also. This will reduce the fare by 30 percent and the environment will also benefit.
Travel facilities from Delhi to Shimla and Chandigarh are going to increase further. Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has told a mega plan for the coming days. He said that soon there are preparations to run electric buses to the tourist places around Delhi. After this, electric buses will be run across the country. Both tourists and the environment will benefit from this. Our plan is to run long distance electric buses in the country. This will reduce fares and pollution will also reduce.
Gadkari said, the government has made complete planning to run electric buses in almost all the cities of the country in the next 5 years. Besides, electric buses will also be run on some long routes. In this, there are preparations to run electric buses between Delhi to Shimla and Chandigarh, Pune to Mumbai. Currently, CNG buses run in almost all the big cities of the country, which has reduced pollution, but still a lot of work remains to be done on this.
Fares will become cheaper.
Nitin Gadkari said that tourists and passengers will also benefit from the arrival of electric buses. There will be a 30 percent reduction in fares for electric buses as compared to buses running on conventional fuel. The biggest reason for this is that after the start of battery manufacturing in the country, its prices are falling rapidly.
Battery production in the country has increased by 3 times.
Gadkari said that the production of Lithium based batteries in the country has increased by more than 3 times. In the last few years it has increased by 350 percent. Due to increase in production its prices have also declined. The price of Lithium Ion battery has fallen from $150 per kWh to $120 per kWh. When its price reaches $100 per kilowatt, the fare will also start falling by 30 percent.
Monthly expenses will reduce 10 times.
Gadkari said that after the fall in battery prices, the cost of running electric vehicles will also reduce. If you spend 20 to 25 thousand rupees a month on petrol and diesel, then your expenditure on electric car will be limited to Rs 2,000. This means that your current expenditure will be reduced to one-tenth. At present there are more than 400 e-scooter manufacturing companies in the country. With increase in production, prices will also fall rapidly.
