Actually, the government has amended the National Highway Fee Rules 2008, which also includes electronic toll collection. This decision is a big step towards the satellite toll collection system, which will make the toll collection process easier and more convenient.

How will the satellite based system work?

In this system, there will be no need to stop the vehicles at the toll plaza. The satellite will automatically deduct the toll amount through the equipment installed in your car or vehicle. This location based system will be completely automatic, in which the toll fee will be deducted based on the location through which you pass.

What will happen to Fastag?

Fastag will not be discontinued at present, but there is a plan to fully implement the satellite based system over time. After this, people will be able to continue their journey without any interruption and the toll fee will also be deducted automatically. This step of the government is an important initiative towards relieving people from unnecessary waiting and traffic.
