New Toll Policy: Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said that toll plazas will be removed from across the country. For this, a new toll policy will be announced soon. The Union Minister also said that the work of Mumbai-Goa highway will be completed by June this year. Minister Nitin Gadkari said this at an event organized in Dadar, Mumbai on Monday.
New toll policy to be announced in 15 days
Nitin Gadkari reiterated his commitment to remove toll plazas from across the country and said that the central government will soon present a new toll policy. However, he did not give any further details about it. He said, “I will not say much about it now, but a new policy will be announced in the next 15 days. Once it is implemented, no one will have any reason to complain about tolls.”
Mumbai-Goa highway work to be completed by June 2025
Regarding the Mumbai-Goa highway, the Union Minister said that its work will be completed by June 2025. He said that this will bring great relief to daily commuters and travelers to Konkan, who have been traveling on potholed roads for years. Expressing confidence in the country’s infrastructure, Nitin Gadkari said, “In the next two years, India’s road infrastructure will be better than America.” The highway work faced various difficulties.
The Union Minister acknowledged the challenges faced in the work of the Mumbai-Goa Highway and said, “There were many difficulties regarding the Mumbai-Goa Highway but there is nothing to worry about, we will complete 100 percent work on the highway by this June.” He said that the acquisition of land for the highway was delayed due to legal disputes and internal conflicts.
The Minister said, “There were fights between brothers, cases were going on in the court and there were a lot of difficulties in giving compensation for the land. But now all those issues have been resolved and the work on the Mumbai-Goa Highway is progressing at a fast pace.”
