Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, who attended Business Today’s BT MindRush 2025 program organized at Bandra Kurla Complex (Mumbai BKC) in Mumbai on Saturday, spoke openly about toll tax and the toll system on highways.
Along with this, he said that we are going to bring such a policy regarding toll that no one will be able to ask questions about the toll.
New toll policy from 1 April!
During a conversation, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, on a question about increasing the toll tax charges, said that the Parliament session is going on right now, so we will not tell much about it, but from 1 April 2025, we are bringing such a policy that you will be happy and you will not be able to ask any question about Toll. However, he refused to give details about this, but said that now people will not debate about toll rates on national highways.
Along with this, he said that at present, NHAI’s toll income is Rs 55,000 crore and in the next two years, it will become Rs 1.40 lakh crore. Union Minister Gadkari further said, ‘I want poor people to also invest in highway construction and we will offer them 8.05% interest as compared to the 4.5% offered by banks on deposits.
Farmers are not only becoming food providers, but also energy providers
Nitin Gadkari said that 65% of the population in our country’s growth is rural, which contributes 12% to the growth. The country is rapidly moving forward on biofuel and farmers are now not only food providers, but they are also becoming energy providers. He expressed hope that our agriculture growth rate will increase by 20% in the coming years.
Growth in the agriculture sector will play an important role in making India the third largest economy in the world. The Union Minister said that I am happy that I have succeeded in the mission I started regarding biofuel. Today 4000 projects of bio ethanol and bio CNG are running in India.
‘We are building 36 green expressways…’
Regarding the mega plan for the year 2047, he said that projects worth Rs 5 lakh crore are in our sight. We are building 36 Green Express Highways in the country. On completion of these, Chennai to Bangalore will be reached in 2 hours and Mumbai to Bangalore in 6 hours. He said that the work on Chennai to Surat Highway is also in progress. Apart from this, we are building 105 tunnels in Jammu and Kashmir. Nitin Gadkari said that we do not make mega plans and we are fully confident that we will become a developed India by 2047.
