New service for SBI customers,: Under the new initiative of the country’s largest bank SBI, initially five major banking services – cash withdrawal, deposit, transfer, balance check and mini statement – will be made available.
Public sector State Bank of India (SBI) on Wednesday took steps to provide banking facilities to the customers at their doorstep. The bank has introduced a device for its customers through which various banking services can be availed.
SBI Chairman Dinesh Khara said that the objective of this initiative is to strengthen financial inclusion and provide essential banking services to the common people. This initiative is part of increasing accessibility and convenience in availing bank services. The move brings ‘kiosk banking’ straight to customers’ doorsteps. This provides greater flexibility to Customer Service Center (CSP) agents, which will help them reach customers, especially those facing health issues, senior citizens and the disabled.
Khara said that under the new initiative, initially five major banking services – cash withdrawal, deposit, transfer, balance check and mini statement – will be provided. These services account for more than 75 percent of the total transactions on the Bank’s CSP. He said that the bank is also planning to launch nominee, account opening and card-based services under social security schemes later.
