New rule to control pollution in Delhi
From April 1, vehicles older than 15 years will not be given fuel at any petrol pump. This information is being sent to all petrol pump operators with the help of the Petroleum Ministry. Teams have been formed which will identify the vehicles and remove them from Delhi. Apart from this, such vehicles coming to Delhi from outside will not be given entry.
What will happen to the old Public Transport?
Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that about 90% of CNG buses of public transport in Delhi (Delhi New Rules) will be removed by December 2025 and replaced with electric buses. He said that the government will make all efforts to bring Delhi’s pollution under control.
What to do if you have an old car
1. You cannot legally drive 15 year old vehicles in Delhi-NCR. In many states, these vehicles are re-registered based on their condition. If your vehicle is fit and in good condition, you can get it re-registered and drive it in other states.
2. When you give your old vehicle for scrap, you get some value of the vehicle from the seller. You also get a certificate for this, which gives you a discount on registration fees when you buy a new vehicle. On the basis of this certificate, state governments also give discount on road tax for new vehicles. There can be up to 25% discount on non-transport vehicles and 15% on transport vehicles.
