New Delhi. After issuing an order to not give fuel to vehicles without Pollution Control Certificate (PUC) in Delhi, the government has now taken another big step.
Now PUC will not be made for those vehicles which do not have a registration sticker on their windscreen. The Delhi government’s transport department gave this order on Friday. This sticker is pasted on the windshield of all vehicles with high-security registration plates. It is a chromium-based hologram sticker, which is pasted on the left top side of the vehicle’s windscreen.
The Supreme Court has made high-security registration plates (HSRP) and colour-coded stickers (third registration mark) based on fuel mandatory in NCR. If a vehicle does not follow these rules, it can be deprived of essential services. The Supreme Court gave this direction in January this year. The Delhi government, while implementing this order, has now instructed not to issue PUC to those vehicles whose windshield does not have a sticker with the vehicle number written on it.
The department is sending SMS
The Transport Department is sending SMS to those vehicle owners whose vehicles do not have high-security registration plates. Now it will also be written in these messages that PUC certificate will not be issued to vehicles without stickers. The Delhi Government has also said in its order that with the help of the IT department, it should be ensured that if a vehicle does not have the third number plate, then it should be denied the PUC certificate. Even if a PUC certificate is issued by mistake, it should not be updated on the government’s “Vahan” portal.
What is PUC?
Let us tell you that PUC certificate, also known as “Pollution Control Certificate”, is an important document that certifies that your vehicle complies with pollution control norms, and it is mandatory for driving a motor vehicle in India. PUC certificate ensures that your vehicle is not contributing to pollution on the road and it is safe for the environment. For PUC certificate, you can take your vehicle to any authorized pollution testing center (PUC center) and get the PUC test done and get the certificate from there.
