New Passport Apply: Indian govt has made the application process for passport easy, apply from home

The Government of India has made the application process for passport easier. Now any citizen can apply online from home.

Application Process

Apply Online: To apply, visit the passport services website passportindia.gov.in.

Registration: Register by clicking on New User and create User ID and Password.

Login : Login to the website with the created ID.

Fill the form: Click on Apply for Fresh Passport or Re-issue Passport and fill the online form.

Fill in the details: Select fresh passport, re-issue, normal or tatkal, 36 pages or 60 pages. Fill in all the details like name, father’s name and address correctly.

Fee payment: After paying the fee online, schedule an appointment and select the nearest passport office.

Appointment slip: Take out the appointment slip; SMS will also be sent to your mobile.

Document verification: Visit the passport office on the appointment date and get the documents verified.

Residence and Birth Proof

Proof of Residence: You can use Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Electricity Bill, Rent Agreement, Photo-bearing Bank Passbook (with three months’ entries), or Ration Card.

Proof of Birth: Use Birth Certificate, Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, PAN Card or 10th Marksheet.

Quick Service

If you want an urgent passport, you can apply online and get the passport in just seven days but the fee will be slightly higher.

Remember before applying make sure that the name and date of birth in your Aadhaar card, PAN card, 10th mark sheet, and other documents are the same. After police verification, your passport will be sent to your address.
