New flights are starting between UAE and India

Abu Dhabi: Indians living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are going to get the facility of cheap flights to go to their country. India’s leading airline IndiGo has announced to start flights from three more cities from next month.

The airline will start direct flights from Abu Dhabi to Indian cities Mangaluru, Coimbatore and Tiruchirapalli from August. With the start of flight operations on three new routes, Indians living in the UAE will get the benefit of cheap flights. 37 lakh Indian citizens live in the UAE, which is the largest expatriate community in the country. Due to the large population of the Indian community, the UAE-India air corridor is one of the busiest corridors between the two countries.

When will the flights start?

According to the Khaleej Times report, the flight from Abu Dhabi to Mangaluru will operate daily from August 9, 2024. The flight between Tiruchirappalli and Abu Dhabi will start from August 11 and will run four times a week. At the same time, the flight from Coimbatore to Abu Dhabi will start from August 10, which will run three times a week. The airline has kept the one-way fare from Abu Dhabi to Mangaluru at Rs 8047 (353 dirhams) and for Coimbatore at Rs 7522 (330 dirhams). For those going to UAE, the fare can be as low as Rs 19217 (843 dirhams).

Due to the increasing demand for air travel, air fares between the two countries have increased significantly. During summer and New Year holidays, it more than doubles. Travel industry officials are calling on governments to increase seat capacity to meet the increasing demand. A large number of Indians also visit Dubai throughout the year for tourism.

India-UAE busiest air corridor

According to OAG, which monitors flight database, India-UAE will be the 9th busiest air corridor in July 2024. This corridor will have 22.92 lakh seats. Abu Dhabi Airports’ first quarter 2024 data shows that Mumbai was the second, third and fourth busiest destinations with 240,681, Kochi 206,139 and Delhi 203,395 passengers. At the same time, IndiGo’s Global Sales Head Vinay Kumar Malhotra said that with the addition of new flights, IndiGo now operates 89 non-stop flights a week from 13 cities in India to Abu Dhabi.
