Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday inspected the construction works of Amritsar-Jamnagar Expressway- 917 kilometer long 6-lane access controlled Amritsar-Bhatinda-Jamnagar greenfield corridor being built at a cost of Rs 22,500 crore. The work of this highway is expected to be completed by September 2023. This express will prove to be very beneficial for Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana and Gujarat.
Nitin Gadkari inspected this expressway in Rajasthan. This greenfield 6-lane access controlled corridor will provide better connectivity between northern and central India. With its construction, it will be possible to easily travel from the states of North India to Jamnagar and Kandla ports of Gujarat.
The expressway built under the Bharat Mala project will reduce travel time between many big cities in the coming days. With the completion of this project, Amritsar and Jamnagar of Punjab can be reached in just 12 hours instead of 23 hours. This Greenfield Expressway passes through 15 districts of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat.
This corridor will connect three refineries of the country, Bhatinda Refinery of Punjab, Barmer Refinery of Rajasthan and Jamnagar Refinery of Gujarat.
In Rajasthan, 93 percent work of 637 kilometer long expressway has been completed at a cost of Rs 15,000 crore. This corridor will be built in 155 km in Punjab and 125 km in Gujarat. The 6-lane highway is designed for a top speed of 100 kmph, with the option of expanding to 10-lanes in the future.
The Amritsar-Jamnagar greenfield corridor will be connected to the Delhi-Katra Expressway near Sultanpur Lodhi in Kapurthala district. With this, the journey of the people of Rajasthan from Delhi-Katra Expressway to Vaishno Devi will be facilitated through this corridor.
A 75 km long 4-lane Ludhiana-Bhatinda greenfield highway is being constructed at a cost of Rs 2,500 crore to connect Ludhiana with the Amritsar-Jamnagar corridor. This highway will connect the major cities of Rajasthan with the industrial city of Punjab, Ludhiana.
About 32 side-way facilities will be available on this expressway, including helipad hotels, restaurants, petrol pumps, EV charging stations and essential goods shops
