National Consumer Rights Day: Today, on 24 December, National Consumer Rights Day is celebrated across the country. Consumers should be aware of their rights while shopping and after that. So that they do not get cheated.

The government also keeps making consumers aware of their rights and makes all efforts for this. Before the day of National Consumer Rights Day, let us tell you the five major rights of consumers as customers from refund to compensation from the Consumer Forum.

Consumer’s Right to Safety

In India, under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, customers have been given some rights. They can use them at any time. Customers have the right to protect themselves from such products and services. Which can cause any kind of harm to their life or their property. These things include food items, medicines and electrical appliances. If you face any danger from these things. Then you can complain about it.

Right to Information

Apart from this, customers have the right to know about the goods and services. The customer has the right to know what he is buying, its price, its quality, its quantity, its manufacturing date, its expiry date and the way to use it. If the shopkeeper gives any wrong information, then a complaint can be lodged against him.

Right to Choose

Any customer can go to any shop, any mall or any shopping place and buy anything according to his wish and budget. He cannot be pressurized by the shopkeeper or the seller to buy any particular item. The consumer has the right to buy anything according to his wish.

Right to be Heard

Customers have the right to register their complaints related to any product and service and get it heard. Customers can present their case in the consumer forum and consumer court. As a customer, your problems will be given priority.

Right to Redressal

If a customer has suffered a loss in a product or service, then in such a case, he has the right to not only get a refund but also compensation. If something turns out to be defective, then he has the right to get his money back to replace it or get it repaired. If there is any deficiency in a service, then he has the right to compensation for this as well.
