Passengers traveling daily by local train will have to face problems today (Saturday). Due to removal of girders of Gokhale Bridge in Andheri on Western Railway on Saturday night, scheduled trains will be canceled and megablock will be taken.
Subsequently, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will take up the railway-over-bridge (ROB) reconstruction work. Western Railway officials have given information in this regard.
A ‘block’ will be held between Vileparle and Andheri stations on the Western Railway from 9.30 pm on Saturday to 5.30 am on Sunday. In the meantime, the railway schedule will be changed for construction of steel girder for Gokhale bridge. Many local trains have been canceled for this work while the schedule of long distance trains has been changed.
The demolition of the dangerous Gokhale Bridge in Andheri is now in its final stage. Western Railway has announced a special traffic block for 8 hours on Saturday today for the demolition of this bridge. Due to this block, Virar-Churchgate leaving at 11:15 on Saturday night will be the last fast local. So the slow local from Borivali to Churchgate will leave at 11.34 pm.
According to a senior Western Railway official, this is the last phase of the mega block. Where the railway will remove the remaining two girders on the eastern side of the ROB. 15 local trains will be canceled during this period. Giving more information about this, the official said that the fifth line and platform 9 between Vileparle and Andheri will be closed from 9:30 pm on Saturday to 5:30 am on Sunday.

Platform number four will remain closed from 12.10 am to 4.40 am. Sumit Thakur, Chief PRO, Western Railway informed that scheduled local services till Goregaon will run between 12:10 am to 4:40 pm block. Passengers can travel from Goregaon to Churchgate Harbor route. Additional services will start from platform 1 and 2 of Goregaon station. The last express local between Virar and Churchgate will leave at 11.15 pm. The last slow local from Vasai Road to Andheri will depart at 11.15 pm.
