Mumbai has come to a standstill due to the heavy rains and strong winds caused by Biparjoy. An atmosphere of anxiety and panic was witnessed at the Mumbai airport as hundreds of passengers waited for hours for their flights. Several flights were canceled or delayed due to weather conditions, while some had to abort their landings.

Air India tweeted, “Apart from inclement weather conditions and temporary closure of runway 09/27 at Mumbai airport, some of our flights have been delayed and canceled as a result of other consequential factors beyond our control. We apologize for any inconvenience caused to our guests, as we are making every effort to minimize disruption.”

Many passengers were seen very upset at Mumbai airport. Some passengers took to Twitter to complain about the inconvenience.

Responding to a passenger, Indigo tweeted, “The pain of flight delays is equally distressing for us. It is only in extreme circumstances that we are forced to make such changes in schedules. We Looking forward to better cooperation from you.”

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the Kutch coast in Gujarat in view of the cyclone. “It is very likely to cross Saurashtra-Kutch and adjoining Pakistan coasts as a ‘Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (VSCS)’ around the afternoon of June 15,” the IMD said.
