This scheme was started by the government on 1 January 2017. Under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana’, financial assistance is given to women who are pregnant and lactating for the first time. The scheme is also known as ‘Pradhan Mantri Pregnancy Assistance Scheme’.

The purpose of this scheme is to take care of the health of the mother and child and provide them nutritious food. To get the benefit of the scheme, for the registration of a woman who is pregnant for the first time, it is necessary for the pregnant and her husband to have aadhar card, bank passbook photo status. Bank account should not be joint. Under the scheme, an amount of Rs 5000 will be given to pregnant women in three installments.

The objective of the scheme is to provide nutrition to first time mothers. Out of 5000 rupees, the first installment is 1000 rupees, second installment is 2000 rupees and third installment is 2000 rupees. Women doing government jobs cannot take advantage of this scheme.

The amount is directly transferred from the government to the woman’s account. You can apply under PM Matritva Vandana Yojana through ASHA or ANM. You can also apply for this online. The benefit of the scheme is provided to all women. Whether their delivery took place in a government hospital or in a private hospital.
