Bengaluru Namma Metro Green Line: The 3.14 km long section of the Green Line of Bengaluru’s Namma Metro from Nagasandra to Madavara has been opened for commercial operation today. This step has been taken after the Metro Railway Safety Commissioner (Southern Circle) received statutory approval after a thorough inspection of the section on October 3.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar inspected the metro line on Wednesday and tested the section from Yeshwantpur metro station to Nagasandra-Madavara. He was accompanied by Bengaluru South MP and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Tejasvi Surya.
These 3 stations were expanded
According to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the line is 3.14 km long from Nagasandra to Madavara (BIEC) in the second phase of the project and has three metro stations at Majunathnagar, Chikkabidarakallu and Madavara (BIEC). The work has been completed at a total cost of Rs 1,168 crore including land cost of Rs 152 crore.
These people will benefit
BMRCL said in a statement, this line, which runs along the national highway, crosses the NICE (Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises) road at two places. The extension of this line will provide easy access to the Bangalore International Exhibition Center (BIEC), a major exhibition center, large residential complexes and nearby cities, reducing travel time by 30 percent.

44 passengers will travel
BMRCL said, “It is estimated that 44 thousand additional passengers will benefit with the opening of this line. This extension will provide direct metro access to BIEC which is a major hub for national and international conferences and exhibitions in Karnataka.”
How big is the Bangalore Metro network
BMRCL said, “Once this section becomes operational, Bengaluru will have a 76.95 km long metro facility with 69 stations. The North South Corridor (Green Line) will become 33.46 km long with 31 stations and the East West Corridor (Purple Line) will become 43.49 km long with 38 stations.”
