MCD Property Tax: 10% discount on paying property tax by 30 June. know everything

MCD Property Tax: There is good news for property owners living in Delhi. They will get 10 percent discount on depositing property tax by June 30. MCD has made extensive arrangements for this. To facilitate people in paying property tax, the offices of the Property Tax Department will remain open on all Saturdays till June 30, 2024.

MCD has appealed to all property owners as well as occupants of vacant land and buildings that they will get a discount of 10 percent only on making a lump sum payment of their outstanding property tax for the financial year 2024-25 before June 30, 2024.

All property taxpayers can deposit their outstanding property tax by logging on to the Delhi Municipal Corporation website www.mcdonline.nic.in. Money can also be paid online. MCD has also advised all property owners to geo-tag their properties. To facilitate people in paying property tax, the offices of the Property Tax Department will remain open on all Saturdays till June 30, 2024.

The property tax department of MCD says that more than 800 camps have been organized in various wards in the current financial year. More than 24,000 taxpayers have paid their taxes during the camps. RWAs, market associations can request the respective regional property tax department for assistance in organizing the camps. Taxpayers can pay their property tax in many ways. These include UPI, wallet, demand draft and online payment gateway.

Decrease in tax collection

MCD has also sent advance bills to 8.7 lakh taxpayers who paid tax last year. In the financial year 2023-24, there was a decline of 11.5 percent in property tax collection. During this period, a total property tax of Rs 2,137 crore was collected, which is Rs 280 crore less than the financial year 2022-23. Also, the number of taxpayers has also declined during this period. This number was 13.29 lakh in 2022-23, which was 12.58 lakh in 2023-24. Officials say that in the financial year 2022-23, an additional revenue of Rs 400 crore came due to the Samriddhi Scheme. But it was not implemented in 2023-24.
